St Joseph Technical Training Institute for the Deaf, Nyang’oma is a Government Technical Training Institution under the Ministry of Education, State Department of Vocational and Technical Training.It is established under The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Act (No. 29 of 2013) which forms the basis under which technical institutions in Kenya operate. The Act rightfully envisages at clause 27(2)(a), governance and management in training that ensures effective and efficient education and training. As an institute, we aspire to offer accessible, equitable and quality training. To this effect the Institute offers training from trade test, artisan (level 4), craft certificate (level 5) and Diploma (level 6). As an institute we integrate trainees with hearing impairment with those without. Our desire is to have, a well-organized training that is cost effective and conducted in a conducive environment with precision to impart in the trainees up-to date knowledge, appropriate skills and desirable attitudes. The variety of programmes offered here go beyond traditional engineering courses, but the research and innovation that the trainees are exposed to make them stay ahead of the pack in the industry. The Institute has state of the art machinery for training in all the technical departments and endeavors to partner with both industries and institutions of higher learning for enhanced productivity. As a special Institute for the hearing impaired, we aspire to be a centre of excellence in teaching of the Kenya Sign Language (KSL). The experience at St. Joseph does not end in the workshop or classroom. There are many student clubs and organizations, for just about every interest. We have a vibrant creative arts club, faith based groups and active teams in a variety of sporting disciplines.

The office of the Deputy Principal in charge of Academic Affairs (DPAA) is one of the top administrative offices at St. Josephs Technical Institute For The Deaf, Nyangoma. It is in charge of the core business of the college which is to provide quality training in technical education and technology. We strive to fulfill the vision of the college, (To be a global centre for modern technology for learners with emphasis on learners with hearing impairment) by ensuring quality service to the trainees, who are our esteemed clients. The guiding principle in our operations is that standards are maintained and only the best products are filtered into the Job Market. St. Josephs Technical Institute for the Deaf Nyang’oma (SJTTID) is a Special institutions set up to champion specific TVET courses as a centre of excellence in research and technical training. To match performance to this esteemed status, we have had to set and strictly adhere to high standards. The main propellant of our commitment being quality service delivery and skill based training. The trust bestowed upon us by the stakeholders, humbles us and the numerous statements of support and congratulations encourage us. It is expected that as a leading special TVET institution handling integrated learners, we reciprocate this gesture by intensifying creativity, quality training and research. To Almighty be the glory The Deputy Principal Administration is responsible for assisting the Principal with the administration of the institution and deputizes in her absence. This position has special responsibility for both staff and students in enhancing quality services at SJTTID. The Deputy Principal Administration supervises staff and is in charge of student services. This office is also responsible for the management of programmes and personnel associated with learning support services, policy development, and career development. Message from the Registrar Hello, I take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to welcome you to Nyangoma technical training institute. We are a middle level growing institution, offering integrated technical training programmers. ( Hearing and hearing impaired. ) We have some of the best training facilities, and boost of offering sign language course for all the trainees and award recognized certificate on the same. The Office of the Registrar Serves as a central support unit, providing information and services for all the facets of the institute, community, and the public at large. It also provides official certification, from academic records and safeguard and maintain student’s permanent record. Message from the Dean of Students The Dean of Students is concerned with students’ welfare from entry to graduation. The office has staff members whose responsibility is to help the students settle down and adjust to college life. The students’ welfare includes: 1. Accommodation Services - headed by the Senior Housekeeper · Coordination of room accommodation · Maintenance of cleanliness in and around the hostels 2.
