Oversees all the non-academic and academic issues with the institution as broken below:
Student Advocacy and Well-being:
- Advocate for Students:The Dean of Students acts as a primary point of contact and advocate for students, addressing their concerns and needs.
- Student Support:They provide support and guidance to students on various issues, including academic, social, and emotional well-being.
- Student Development:They foster student growth and development by encouraging participation in extracurricular activities and promoting a sense of community.
- Student Discipline:They are responsible for maintaining student discipline and addressing behavioral issues, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
School Climate and Community:
- Fostering a Positive School Climate:The Dean of Students works to create a positive and inclusive school environment that promotes student engagement and well-being.
- Community Engagement:They encourage student participation in school activities and events, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
- Collaboration:They collaborate with teachers, staff, and administrators to address student needs and promote a positive school culture.
Leadership and Management:
- Student Leadership:They nurture and coach student leaders, empowering them to take on leadership roles and contribute to the school community.
- Program Development:They develop and implement programs that support student learning, development, and well-being.
- Policy Implementation:They ensure that school policies and procedures are consistently and fairly implemented, creating a safe and equitable environment for all students.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Attendance and Absences:Monitoring student attendance and addressing issues related to absences and tardiness.
- Student Behavior:Keeping records of student behavior, addressing issues, and developing behavioral plans in collaboration with counselors and other staff.
- Advisory Programs:Overseeing student advisory programs, where students have a faculty advisor to support their academic and personal development.
- Communication:Facilitating communication among students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
- Orientation and Transition:Assisting with student orientation and transition programs, ensuring a smooth transition for new students.
